In August, Tomatin Distillery launched a trio of special edition bottlings including a 14 year old Cabernet Sauvignon, 9 year old Caribbean Rum and 21 year old Oloroso Sherry single malt.

Douglas Laing Reveals a Highland Beast

World Whiskies’ Awards “Brand Innovators of the Year 2016”, Douglas Laing & Co. today proudly unveil Timorous Beastie 40 Years Old Limited Edition Highland Malt Scotch Whisky. Just 1,080 bottles of this aged, Highland “Vatted” Malt exist globally which is bottled at a natural cask strength of 54.7%.
Packaged in a striking black and gold-foiled gift tube, the new Limited Edition is a first for Timorous Beastie, a now-prevalent brand that first launched in 2014. In line with the Douglas Laing family philosophy, Timorous Beastie 40 Years Old is proudly without colouring or chill-filtration.

Douglas Laing & Co today announces the release of Limited Edition Scallywag #2, a Cask Strength Speyside Blended Malt Scotch Whisky, boldly bottled at 54.1%.
Scallywag Speyside Malt first launched in 2013, in homage to the Douglas Laing family’s long line of Wire Fox Terriers, and is now sold in over 40 markets worldwide.
The new Limited Edition release is created using only the finest Speyside Malts, including those distilled at Mortlach, Macallan and Glenrothes Distilleries. Just 4800 bottles of this rare breed are available globally, a number that is proudly displayed on the product’s gift tube. The striking, gold foiled packaging features a somewhat startled Scallywag, his ears perked and his monocle blasted off, having just experienced his first taste of the spicy, fruity, chocolatey dram.

Douglas Laing’s original Rock Oyster launched in January 2015, a Small Batch bottling created from the finest maritime Malts – including those distilled on the esteemed Islands of Jura, Islay, Arran and Orkney. Bottled at 46.8% alcohol strength, the Island Malt brand has a truly maritime flavour profile of sea salt, sweet peat and cracked black pepper.
HUNTER LAING & CO. FAMILY TO BUILD NEW DISTILLERY ON ISLAY
Island’s whisky-making prowess to strengthen with £8m investment
Whisky entrepreneurs Andrew and Scott Laing, along with their father, Stewart, today reveal plans for Islay’s first new distillery in a decade. An application has been submitted with Argyll and Bute Council to build the new malt whisky distillery at Ardnahoe, on the North East coast of the island. Should permission be granted for the £8m project, land currently owned by Islay Estates will be transferred to the whisky company.
John Dewar & Sons unveils its latest expression from The Golden Dram – Aberfeldy 16 Years Old.
Aberfeldy 16 Years Old is entirely finished in premium Oloroso sherry casks, allowing a sumptuous and more pronounced sherry accent to the malt, giving a suggestion of dried fruit and spicy notes that only the finest of quality casks contribute.
Built by the Dewar family in 1898, the distillery is one of a handful remaining in Perthshire. The house style is rich but smooth and accessible with an emphasis on notes of honey. The long fermentation time of 70 hours allows for greater flavour development as an extended fermentation encourages the creation of more esters which in turn give the whisky fruitiness.

Deanston has added another unique, hand-crafted single malt to its distinguished Scotch whisky portfolio – Deanston Oloroso 20 Year Old.
This limited edition expression, available from the end of November, has been bottled at cask strength after maturing for 20 years at the Perthshire distillery in ex-Oloroso sherry casks.
The taste profile includes hints of Oloroso sherry mixed with warming gingerbread and nutmeg, making it an ideal malt for the festive season. Distinguished by its beautifully balanced sweet and creamy nose and rich, spicy palate, the packaging of this limited bottling embodies Deanston’s traditional look and feel, and is reminiscent of the earthy colours of the Oloroso casks which housed this copper gold malt for two decades.
